Granted, I tried to buy the cheapest shuffler I could find for one of our poker players who had a hard time when he was the dealer. Figured I couldn't go wrong with a product with the Bicycle brand. I was wrong. With a fresh 9 v battery the machine's left side mechanism was frozen. It was assembled (In China, go figure) with the left card moving device jammed against the card platform. I turned it upside down and loosened the dozen or so screws and actually got the mechanism to move. But the cards all jammed ~ every time, during the shuffle. If I put 1/4 of the deck on each side of the machine, I got it to work ~ sometimes. Again, you get what you pay for. I will update this review in say 6 months to see if it has survived and how well it has held up. Anyone over 30 remember the gorilla and Samsonite commercials? That is roughly equivalent to what my son does to items he owns, which is to be expected by all boys.

There was another review in here about this problem. I took the horn out and squeezed it twice to the irritation of everyone and then the reed came out. It is loud and will make people get out of the way for sure. You can fix the loudness with a bit of tape across the holes - adjust / cut to your liking - but then, why have a horn? I took the horn apart and had to shake the horn to get the clear plastic reed and reed holder thing out. Make sure you do this over a well lit surface and not too far from the ground otherwise you might lose the reed. I replaced the reed and reed holder using some needle-nose pliers (be GENTLE!!!! Best to put the reed on top of the reed holder and push it in a bit with your hand then use the pliers). I used some paperboard (a small piece that won't interfere with the reed - maybe from the packaging) and put it under the reed holder to push it up and keep it from flying out again.

The "charms" are held onto the ribbon with "Post-It Note" glue almost, so there was another thing to fix before the kid could use it (wrapped tape around the ribbon). Also, the mount will take the paint off the bike but hold very well.

I do not have another horn to compare this to, and my kid loves this horn as cheaply made as it is so I am giving it 3 stars - it does work. If she did not like it, or was not repairable it would get 1. This is a good purchase because you're getting a really durable 1/4" thick yoga mat and the yoga mat bag. It's much better than the 1/8" mats I've had in the past. I like the mesh bag too because it's airy and see-though and does the job, but the mat stands on its own at this price because if it's durability and thickness.

Others have complained about these kinds of mats being slippery but I've also learned that that is solved after a few uses and a damp cloth of soapy water or vinegar solution. I had no problem there but if it is a problem for you then you should go with the more expensive mats such as this one Agile Eco Yoga Mat, 1/4" thick x 24" x 68" which I also bought. This one doesn't come with a bag but it's lighter weight, still 1/4" thick and doesn't have any of the slippery issues others commented about because it feels like a different material altogether.

I wanted to do a review the first day I got it so that it helps anyone deciding whether to start with the trainer or the #1, I know I debated over it for a while and ended up with the #1 as my first CoC gripper.

Background: I've been going to the gym for at least 10 years. This doesn't mean I'm a body builder or anything even close to that, it just means I've hit weights for a long time. I never really trained my forearms so I would say I have an average grip, meaning, average for someone who at least goes to the gym. If you've never done weights or rock climbing etc, this is not the gripper for you, start with something easier and work your way up.

First Impression: They are solid. The metal is a little harsh to the hand, but, let's be honest, if you want more gripping power you probably want your hands to show it, you don't want soft hands, so, see no big deal with it. Your hands will get used to it and will benefit from the calluses.

First time use: Closed it five times with my dominant hand, zero times with the non-dominant. Now, I mean close as in a bona-fide close, where the handles touch, none of that "almost closed it" story.

Conclusion (for now): They are definitely a good investment, the metal feels like it'll last a lifetime. If you think the #1 is too hard for you, follow your instinct, it probably is, start with the trainer. I've never been a fan of doing a 1,000 reps so this is exactly what I wanted, few reps of raw power, so it works for me.

In the summer of 2009, I bought a cheap plastic hand gripper out of curiosity and used it for a few months at work. It was slightly hard at first but only after a few weeks, I was doing tens and hundreds of reps each day. I had absolutely no hand grip training prior to using this cheap plastic hand gripper.

But one day, the metal spring snapped while I was on the 1,234,567th rep. I knew I was getting stronger but this was shocking because I just destoryed a piece of metal with my right hand!



In all seriousness, I felt like I needed a better hand gripper that doesn't break easily. I did some research and found out that companies made hand grippers with varying resistance. I came across Captains of Crush on Google search. They seemed like well built, tough looking hand grippers. I read some reviews and one person said that #1 usually stops a grown man cold. I scoffed and ordered #1 and #2 because I thought I had above average or at least average hand grip strength after using the cheap plastic hand gripper.

I was seriously wrong. #1 stopped me cold. I cried (my heart did). The first day I tried it, I got blisters on my middle, ring, and pinky fingers on both hands! And I couldn't even budge #2. Blisters were pretty bad and washing my face each morning was a painful reminder that I was still a newbie. It took me more than a week to recover. But while I was recovering, I was worried that I wouldn't be able to do normal exercises with just #1 and #2. So I ordered the Trainer which was rated at 100 lbs.

The Trainer helped me get stronger fast. I used it rigorously for a week and I was able to close #1 a few times with a break between each rep. I always did 3 sets of ten reps with the Trainer as a warm up and did 1 or 2 sets of several reps with #1. I could only close #1 with my dominant right hand but after a month of training, I could also do it on my left hand.



Only about a month after I first closed #1, I closed #2. It came as a surprise. I was showing CoC grippers to my friends and I felt like showing off even more. They couldn't close #1 and I had already shown them closing #1 so I thought even if I fail at closing #2, it wouldn't hurt my pride as much. I tried and closed it. When the metals touched, I thought I had #1 in my hand. But it sure was #2.

A few more months have passed. It was early December 2009 and I could do several reps with #2 with my right hand and barely one rep with my left hand. I got curious again. What's #3 like? I ordered one. It was hard. I skipped #1.5 because I closed #2 relatively fast but this time, I really felt like I needed #2.5 to help me gap the bridge.

#2.5 arrived today (1/12/2010). I opened the package and closed it on the first try. I could feel that it was tougher than #2 but not by much. But regardless, I think it will help me get to #3 faster because what matters is one hard rep not several less-than-maximum-effort reps. As of today, I'm about 1cm away from closing #3. But after #2 rated at 195 lbs (~200 lbs), that 1cm gap is huge. I think it would take me at least half a year to fully close #3. But I'll get there eventually. And I'll write another review for #3 on Amazon.com.
